Creating a World Without Type 1 Diabetes
The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) is a primary beneficiary of VVF because their mission is to raise awareness and fund life-changing breakthroughs in research to cure, prevent, and treat type 1 diabetes.
JDRF is the leading organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. JDRF’s mission is to accelerate life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent and treat T1D and its complications.
T1D is an autoimmune disease that strikes both children and adults suddenly. In T1D, the pancreas stops producing insulin—a hormone the body needs to get energy from food. It has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle. There is nothing a person can do to prevent it and at present, there is no cure.
JDRF works every day to change the reality of this disease for millions of people by funding research, advocating for government support of research and new therapies, ensuring new therapies come to market and connecting and engaging the T1D community.
Every dollar put toward research comes from donations. When people show their support with time, talent, voice and, money it enables JDRF to advance more research.
Doing the greatest good for the largest number of people, in the shortest period of time.
VVF is committed to addressing the challenge of ending homelessness in the Sacramento community. As varied as the issues are for the homeless, there are organizations that have solutions. We at VVF can’t limit our support to only one worthy organization, so we look to find those committed to producing lasting solutions within our community.
Organizations that support individuals and families experiencing homelessness and assist them in obtaining and maintaining their stability. The benefactors chosen are those that assist through finding access to housing, employment, health, education and other resources for long-lasting stability and quality of life.
The initiatives of the forward-thinking team at ReImagine is who VVF looks to for inspiration. Their mission to create a healthier more vibrant community is what guides us to help organizations that assist in reshaping the lives of the underserved and under-resourced parts of Sacramento. This includes our at-risk youth, young adults and single fathers.
Single fathers are an underserved group in our community and our goal is to respond to their needs by assisting programs that offer support and empowerment.
Fathers can have a different set of challenges when faced with being a single parent. We support community organizations that are teaching parenting skills that will enhance their relationships whether they be alone or in a co-parenting situation. Aiding single fathers to achieve, maintain success and help them to empower their families to grow together, is the commitment of Vaughn’s Valley Foundation.
